Okay, kids, let's put a stop to this right now...

I'm not sure it was a good idea for Brevoort to do that. When creators start attacking creators like that, it generally doesn't look good on anyone.
But the 'self-destructive' thing in there makes me think that maybe part of the reason things are late is that Dan Slott may have a substance abuse problem.
Thats how it rings for me.
I really hope I'm wrong about that though.
You think I may have a substance abuse problem? A substance abuse problem?
First: How dare you say something like that in a public forum. How can you just type that off-the-cuff about a person you don't even know? That's just bizzare.
Second: Plain & simple: I don't do drugs. Never have, never will. That's so not me. And when it comes to drinking, I'm practically a teetotaller. You can count the number of drinks I have in a year on one hand.
For the record, what Tom was referring to re my "self-destructive" side is that I have a history of over-thinking a project to death-- working and re-working a draft well beyond the point of when I should let it go. I'm an obsessive perfectionist and, at times, that can make me my own worst enemy.

This could explain why She-Hulk has such a revolving door of artists...
Okay... Let's nip this in the bud too.
SHE-HULK season 1 had TWO artists: Juan Bobillo and Paul Pelletier.
Juan worked on six issues and then decided to work on more of his own projects.
When Paul came on board, he was going to be THE guy. And, if the book hadn't been relaunched, Paul would have stayed the guy. But, during the down time, the X-Office snatched him up for EXILES.
For the relaunch, Tom liked the idea of getting the original team back together. And Juan missed working on Shulkie. But, after our first arc, he wanted to go back to his own projects.
Issue #3 was ALWAYS going to be a jam issue-- to celebrate the 100th solo appearance of SHE-HULK. And, in that issue, Juan did the lion's share of the interiors.
Issue #4 was a revisiting of the Geoff Johns/Scott Kolins SEARCH FOR SHE-HULK arc. Since the story was an unofficial epilogue, we thought it would be cool to have Scott do the honors.
Will Conrad helped out for two issues while we looked for a new regular artist. We hoped that would be Paul Smith, but that didn't work out.
NOW, my Batman Adventures pal, Rick Burchett has already wrapped up #10 and #11, is hard at work drawing #12, and Rick and I have already talked out what's gonna happen in #13 and #14, and on and on.
Okay?
Now that that's out of the way...
YES. I've been late in the past.
In '04/'05
For all of Season 1 of SHE-HULK, you had 12 issues that came out in 12 months.
For GLA, you had 4 issues that came out in 4 months.
For SPIDER-MAN/HUMAN TORCH you had 5 issues that came out in 6 months.
In '05/'06
Things got off to a rocky start. I normally do two books and change a month (anywhere from 44 to 55 pages). That's my comfort level. That's just how fast I can work (and juggle a life).
In November/December, I had a case of work overload. SHE-HULK2 #2, THING #1, AMAZING FANTASY #15, double size SHE-HULK #3/#100, double size GLX-MAS SPECIAL, and THING #2. (155 pages) AND I was also asked to write a script for a half-hour animated show (which, in the end, had to get scuttled to handle my Marvel workload-- dammit!-- though I did give it a good go)!
At about TRIPLE my usual workload-- and holidays-- I wore myself down and got pretty sick. This, right there, f'ed me up and put me behind schedule on EVERYTHING-- pretty much playing catchup for the rest of the year. Mix into that a family crisis a few months later-- and there you have it.
That said...
You got 8 issues of the THING in 9 months.
A Christmas special that came out before Christmas.
A multi-creator jam (AF #15) which came out on time.
The Two-Gun one-shot that came out kicking off the Western Event.
A text piece for the Civil War edition of the Daily Bugle.
The first 6 issues of SHE-HULK in 6 months.
There was a skip at issue 7, 7 and 8 double shipped the next month.
There was a skip at issue 9, it double shipped with the reprint of 8 the next month.
10 came out this month.
11 will come out next month.
And so on...
Yes, you deserve to get your comics on the ship weeks that they're promised.
For my part, I am trying to do that-- to take on a more professional level of dedication when it comes to meeting the deadlines that the editorial office lays down-- while still giving you the BEST possible work I can produce for YOU!
One final note:
The original post from Tom Brevoort that's been reprinted here-- is over 2 months old.
During that time, measures have been taken to get SHE-HULK back on track.
AND...
Tom Brevoort has given me a second book to work on-- which is a HIGH PROFILE secret project for the start of '07. On more than one occasion Tom has referred to this as my "big breakout project". It's heavily tied into the Post Civil War landscape of the Marvel U. And I think that level of faith speaks for itself. To date, Tom Brevoort has been my biggest supporter at Marvel, the best soundboard for WHATEVER project I'm working on, and I will always be proud to work for his office.
Now can we finally put this thread to bed?
Geez...
