Ich würde spontan behaupten, C wird auch im englischen oft wie ein K ausgesprochen. Bei Cable, Cannonball oder Colossus ist das zum Beispiel der Fall, also dürfte das dem Ami gar nicht mal so fremd sein.
Ich find die Cable Theorie momentan noch am Einleuchtensten.
